What resort in the Dominican Republic is best for singles in their mid 20’s?

Posted on February 28th, 2010 by admin in republic | 6 Comments »

Traveling to the Dominican Republic with 4 other friends in October. We would like to stay at a resort that has the most singles and a younger crowd (if there are any like this). What is the best resort for this, and if there isn’t what are the best/largest resorts to be at?

Thanks!

What do military colleges teach about preventing civilian casualties?

Posted on February 28th, 2010 by admin in military | 10 Comments »

Do they stress that sufficient reconnaissance work should be done first, before going after a target? Do they say how much "collateral damage" is acceptable for each kind of objective? Do they teach how to get civilians out of harm’s way? Are officers responsible for watching out for crazy soldiers who use war as an excuse for mass murder and getting them discharged from the military?

This is what the Army Field Manual FM 27-10 has to say about the most misunderstood parts of both the Geneva and Hague Conventions:

a. Buildings To Be Spared.
In sieges and bombardments all necessary
measures must be taken to spare, as far as
possible, buildings dedicated to religion, art,
science, or charitable purposes, historic
monuments, hospitals, and places where the
sick and wounded are collected,

provided
they are not being used at the time for
military purposes.

It is the duty of the besieged to indicate
the presence of such buildings or places by
distinctive and visible signs, which shall be
notified to the enemy beforehand.

(HR, art.
27.) (See also GC, arts. 18 and 19; paras. 257
and 258 herein, dealing with the identification
and protection of civilian hospitals.)
b. Areas To Be Protected. In order to
protect buildings used for medical purposes
from being accidentally hit, it is desirable that
the wounded and sick should, if possible, be
concentrated in an area remote from military
objectives or in an area neutralized by
arrangement with the enemy. See GC, arts. 14,
18, and 19; paras. 253, 257, and 258 herein,
concerning the establishment of hospital and
safety zones and localities.)
……………………………………………………………………………………….
43. Notice of Bombardment
a. Treaty Provision.
The officer in command of an attacking
force must, before commencing a
bombardment, except in cases of assault, do
all in his power to warn the authorities. (HR,
art. 26.)
b. Application of Rule. This rule is
understood to refer only to bombardments of
places where parts of the civil population
remain.
c. When Warning is To Be Given. Even
when belligerents are not subject to the above
treaty, the commanders of United States ground
forces will, when the situation permits, inform
the enemy of their intention to bombard a place,
so that the noncombatants, especially the women
and children, may be removed before the
bombardment commences.

I have been involved with a Vietnamese woman for the past 8 years. I did not ask nor did she talk about the war there other than to tell me her brother in law was a ARVN Major and that he, his brother and her father were all put in prison when in April of 1975. 2 communist men were billited in her Saigon apt.. I will let you guess what they did to her.

When John Kerry ran for President she started talking. I was getting asked a lot of questions about what went on here during the war. The Vietnamese language papers were slamming Kerry for his lies, so was Helen, her brother in law (he wanted me to go to DC and help him cut off Kerry’s manhood. It’s a Vietnamese thing) and all her friends. She told me that the only time her Village was bombed by the Air Force that they dropped leaflets for 3 days warning civilians to evac. How commom was this? I do not know. Did her friends get in my face and aske where all there dead and raped family was…you bet. They asked becasue they all were accounted for and that Kerry was full of BS.

I point all this out because the same thing is done now to create a media fire storm of misinformation.

I watched a news report one night several years ago where the dead Palestinian man fell off the stretcher into the crowd. He jumped back up on it and went back to being dead. The report also noted that they were recycling the dead to make it appear many had been hurt.

What happens to the Life insurance policy if the petitioner gets a death sentences?

Posted on February 28th, 2010 by admin in policy | 4 Comments »

I’m just curious about the following scenario
Lets say someone has a life insurance and get a death sentences.
Would the life insurance policy be automatically void?

I am sure that is one of the exceptions.

Right next to suicide is probably the one about "being involved in criminal activity that resulted in death…"

Even if it wasn’t… it takes up to 20 years from death sentence to execution… that insurance company would have to be paid 20 years worth of premiums while the policy holder sits behind bars and waits for his timely death. Chances are that they will cancel his policy on him as soon as they find out that he is behind bars…

What is the difference in strength between ancient hominids and great apes?

Posted on February 28th, 2010 by admin in ancient | 2 Comments »

I have found many sources that compare the strength of humans to great apes, and the difference of course is quite large. However, I have always been curious as to how strong our recent ancestors and relatives were. Such as Homo neandertalensis or Homo heidelbergensis. I know that you can’t measure the precise difference in strength between extinct human relatives and apes, and even if they weren’t exist it would be difficult to compare, but judging from skeletal remains were ancient hominids like Homo heidelbergensis closer to us in strength or closer to the great apes?

I can’t answer directly, but brute strength is not man’s key asset. The brain is at the top of the list, and it consumes a lot of metabolic energy. It is now believed that the loss of body hair gave man an advantage as an endurance hunter. He could keep running after prey, chasing them until they wear out. Add that to teamwork, and man became a formidable predator. Man also made good use of the manipulative ability of fingers.

What were any recent or past acts of terrorism in Belarus? How do they fight it?

Posted on February 26th, 2010 by admin in terrorism | 1 Comment »

I got a project form school and we have to write about terrorism in a country and i got belarus. I cant seem to find much info on terrorism there.

Belarus has a history of close cooperation with rogue terrorists states. They did a lot to protect Saddam’s key leaders and relatives during our invasion of Iraq. Belarus got a lot of the fallout from the Chernobyl disaster. They have sold weapons to most of the USA’s list of state sponsored terrorist. It seems a big tie is Syria, where they funning things in and out of Syria. They have a record of providing asylum to international criminals and thugs.

1/23/2010 -> Draft law on Stocktaking of Belarusian armament supply is going to be submitted for approval to both Houses of the US Congress. American Congressmen and Senators are worried about the increasing scope of armament supplies from Belarus and the strengthening of relations of the official Minsk with countries supporting terrorism.

The draft law refers to the facts on armament supply from Belarus, to the mediatory services of Belarus in supplying modern Russian armament to the countries supporting terrorism.

“Belarus is a big supplier of missiles, mortars, anti-tank armament and mines to Palestinian extremist groupings and the states supporting terrorism, such as Iran and Syria, including helicopters Mi-24, artillery systems and armor of Russian production to the Government of Sudan, tanks to the communist regime of North Korea, military aircrafts and aviation engines to Iran” – as quoted in the document on the European Belarus site.

“It might be presumed that Belarusian authorities are endeavoring to expand relations with the states causing disturbances”, says the document.

They had a bombing there in 2008… Terrorists don’t attack them usually.
