What Ancient Jewelry Uses Rubies and Black Stone?

Posted on March 6th, 2010 by admin in ancient | 1 Comment »

What culture in ancient times (at least 1000yrs ago) used rubies and black stone in jewelry, such as bracelets and necklaces?

You mean onyx? Or jet?
Lets see…the Celts used jet and onyx, the Greeks used jet; rubies are seen in writings from the Persians, from India, China, were traded along the Silk Road….
Nearly any culture could have these two eelements together in one piece of jewelry.

Ancient Mesopotamia

Posted on March 3rd, 2010 by admin in ancient | 25 Comments »

The supposed first civilizations. Born in E. DIN, the cradle of society between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Iraq. The Sumerian city, Nibiru; other wise known as Nibbur in Akkadian and Nippur in Babylonian , is dated circa 5262 B.C. Quite possibly the birth place of the prophet of Judaisms, Abraham. Also speaking of biblical tales, they are credited with The creation story and the tower of babel among others.

A truly ancient civilization. These amazing peoples, culture, and religion have all influenced every aspect of all our lives. Their amazing architecture; ziggurats, tombs, roads, temples; are all to this day considered amazing works. Their cuneiform language and their primitive printing press, known as cylinder seals, are another advancement that even the most intelligent person must pay homage to. Not to mention their code of law known as Hammurabi’s law. The first civilization with written law. Their ingenuity is awe inspiring. Considering they predate the Egyptians by 1000s of yrs. Speaking of ingenuity they came up with the 12 signs of the Zodiac along with detailed astronomical observations. Enjoy this short video on the genesis of civilization, the first steps of our collective intelligence.

How come where the ancient Egyptians so much faster developed than any other parts of the world?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin in ancient | 1 Comment »

Was it because they had more natural resources? Or is there another special reason why the ancient Egyptians where so much more smart and developed than the rest of the world? (for example: why were the "American" natives lesser developed than Ancient Egyptians?) Thanks.

There were great civilizations in both North and South America before the Egyptians civilization.

There were permanent settlements in the areas now called Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida before the great pyramids were built in Egypt and before the Mayan culture arose in Central America.

What is the difference in strength between ancient hominids and great apes?

Posted on February 28th, 2010 by admin in ancient | 2 Comments »

I have found many sources that compare the strength of humans to great apes, and the difference of course is quite large. However, I have always been curious as to how strong our recent ancestors and relatives were. Such as Homo neandertalensis or Homo heidelbergensis. I know that you can’t measure the precise difference in strength between extinct human relatives and apes, and even if they weren’t exist it would be difficult to compare, but judging from skeletal remains were ancient hominids like Homo heidelbergensis closer to us in strength or closer to the great apes?

I can’t answer directly, but brute strength is not man’s key asset. The brain is at the top of the list, and it consumes a lot of metabolic energy. It is now believed that the loss of body hair gave man an advantage as an endurance hunter. He could keep running after prey, chasing them until they wear out. Add that to teamwork, and man became a formidable predator. Man also made good use of the manipulative ability of fingers.
