What happens when a woman in the military gets pregnant?
I lived on a military base for two years, and this never came up, to my knowledge. Are women allowed to get pregnant while in the military? Is it encouraged? Discouraged? Is there some kind of penalty?
What about women who get pregnant while on tour somewhere in the world? It seems like there would be a lot of women in Iraq getting pregnant just to go home. Or maybe there’s a ban on sex in a war zone.
I’m really curious now, I’ve never heard anyone discuss this. Any military people out there have answers for me?
If you get pregnant while in, they give you a choice to stay in or get out. If you stay in you get 6 weeks of maternity leave to recover. After that you have 6 months to get back into shape.
Pregnancy is neither encouraged or discouraged, they can’t really stop you from having sex if you are at your duty station.
You can get pregnant if you want to, just make sure the guy isn’t married, not in your Chain of Command, or and Officer if you are enlisted. If it was me i would try to make sure I was married first, so you don’t look like a barracks slut.
To get pregnant while deployed is HIGHLY discouraged, as you are not supposed to be having sex over there, you can receive UCMJ (Art 15) for getting pregnant while deployed.
Who would want to have sex in Iraq or Afghanistan there is no privacy.

What US Military branch is best for a full time university student?
I want to join the military, but go to school at the SAME TIME. The benefits will really help me as well as for the fact that I want to serve our country. Im a woman in her first year at a private university. Please let me know which one would let me study and serve at the same time, as well as help me pay for my education. Thanks!
Just be aware that your education is not guaranteed..And it also depends on what your job will be in the military.
I would choose the Air Force..and I would stay clear of the USMC..
What techniques does the military use to strip a person of their pride?
I have heard from several different sources that the military first strips a person of his pride and then rebuilds them up again.
Is this all branches of the military?
How, exactly, do they do it?
I don’t think "pride" is the right word here. The military needs people to work as a unit, not as a bunch of individuals. The purpose of basic military training is to make you quit thinking of yourself first and to adjust your attitude to a military way of thinking…that means honor, duty, commitment, service before self, and the ability to follow orders. All branches do it…but the techniques may vary.
They do it by making sure you are very rushed and learning new and sometimes difficult things every waking moment. The process of applying significant physical and mental stress allows your training/drill instructors to see if you have what it takes to be successful in the military, or to get you out of the military before they spend more money training you.
Watch some movies that deal with military basic training/ocs, like "An Officer and a Gentleman," "Full Metal Jacket," or even the funny ones like "Private Benjamin" to see some specific techniques they might use.
What they do not do to you is torture or abuse you. Yeah, they yell, and you have to march or run or drill or do calesthenics or obstacle courses or whatever…and they tell you you’re a disgrace and you’ll never make it…but they make sure you have time to eat and sleep and they don’t inflict injuries on you (you’re a valuable commodity).
Then, at some point in your training, after you’ve done all kinds of things you may not have thought you could do…when they’ve issued you your dress uniform and you’re on the home stretch…they stop yelling as much…and start telling you how much progress you’ve made…and finally, on graduation day, these people who made your life a living hell for several weeks tell you…sincerely, that they are proud of you and your accomplishment.
It must work…it’s been in use for hundreds of years.

What branch of the military if I am interested in military explosives career?
How are you? I was wondering what branch you would suggest if I am considering requesting some type of career involving/regarding explosive manufacturing, testing, design, and science? I have good knowledge of chemistry and physics regarding explosives and I figured I would put it to better use. There is only three different intentions when someone talks about the manufacture of explosive materials , I wish to be put it towards the positive intention. Though some would argue the US military isn’t necessarily positive. But I don’t care about those opinions.

What do military colleges teach about preventing civilian casualties?
Do they stress that sufficient reconnaissance work should be done first, before going after a target? Do they say how much "collateral damage" is acceptable for each kind of objective? Do they teach how to get civilians out of harm’s way? Are officers responsible for watching out for crazy soldiers who use war as an excuse for mass murder and getting them discharged from the military?
This is what the Army Field Manual FM 27-10 has to say about the most misunderstood parts of both the Geneva and Hague Conventions:
a. Buildings To Be Spared.
In sieges and bombardments all necessary
measures must be taken to spare, as far as
possible, buildings dedicated to religion, art,
science, or charitable purposes, historic
monuments, hospitals, and places where the
sick and wounded are collected,
provided
they are not being used at the time for
military purposes.
It is the duty of the besieged to indicate
the presence of such buildings or places by
distinctive and visible signs, which shall be
notified to the enemy beforehand.
(HR, art.
27.) (See also GC, arts. 18 and 19; paras. 257
and 258 herein, dealing with the identification
and protection of civilian hospitals.)
b. Areas To Be Protected. In order to
protect buildings used for medical purposes
from being accidentally hit, it is desirable that
the wounded and sick should, if possible, be
concentrated in an area remote from military
objectives or in an area neutralized by
arrangement with the enemy. See GC, arts. 14,
18, and 19; paras. 253, 257, and 258 herein,
concerning the establishment of hospital and
safety zones and localities.)
……………………………………………………………………………………….
43. Notice of Bombardment
a. Treaty Provision.
The officer in command of an attacking
force must, before commencing a
bombardment, except in cases of assault, do
all in his power to warn the authorities. (HR,
art. 26.)
b. Application of Rule. This rule is
understood to refer only to bombardments of
places where parts of the civil population
remain.
c. When Warning is To Be Given. Even
when belligerents are not subject to the above
treaty, the commanders of United States ground
forces will, when the situation permits, inform
the enemy of their intention to bombard a place,
so that the noncombatants, especially the women
and children, may be removed before the
bombardment commences.
I have been involved with a Vietnamese woman for the past 8 years. I did not ask nor did she talk about the war there other than to tell me her brother in law was a ARVN Major and that he, his brother and her father were all put in prison when in April of 1975. 2 communist men were billited in her Saigon apt.. I will let you guess what they did to her.
When John Kerry ran for President she started talking. I was getting asked a lot of questions about what went on here during the war. The Vietnamese language papers were slamming Kerry for his lies, so was Helen, her brother in law (he wanted me to go to DC and help him cut off Kerry’s manhood. It’s a Vietnamese thing) and all her friends. She told me that the only time her Village was bombed by the Air Force that they dropped leaflets for 3 days warning civilians to evac. How commom was this? I do not know. Did her friends get in my face and aske where all there dead and raped family was…you bet. They asked becasue they all were accounted for and that Kerry was full of BS.
I point all this out because the same thing is done now to create a media fire storm of misinformation.
I watched a news report one night several years ago where the dead Palestinian man fell off the stretcher into the crowd. He jumped back up on it and went back to being dead. The report also noted that they were recycling the dead to make it appear many had been hurt.

What branch of the military has the best flight programs?
I am interested in pursuing an aviation career at 28 years old, and am wondering what branch of the military would provide the very best education that would give me the best opportunity to land a career in commercial or business aviation after completing my military obligation.
Most would likely assume it would be the "Air Force," but I didn’t know if that was the case or not. Thanks alot for any help!
Thank you for your interest in serving. All jobs in the military can provide a foundation for a career in the aviation field. Due to your age, you CANNOT be a pilot in The Navy or Marines. In general….
1. Air Force/Navy/Marine Corps/Coast Guard
Aviation Supply
Air Traffic Control
2. Air Force
You can enter the Air Force Pilots program. You must meet a selection board before age 28 1/2. Must enter Undergraduate Flying Training (UPT) before age 30
Army- Must not have reached the 33rd birthday as of the date of the convening board. Waivers for those who are 33 or 34 years of age at the time of the board may be considered, provided the applicant is otherwise exceptionally highly qualified. (Note: this means the applicant has a bachelor’s degree, a high college GPA, flight training, or very high scores on the Army Flight Aptitude Exam
Coast Guard- The Coast Guard does not accept pilot applications, unless the person has already been a military pilot in a different service. To apply, one must be over 21 and under 32 years of age, must have at least 500 hours as a rated military pilot, and must have full-time flying experience within two years of the application.
Which branch is best, only you can decide.
Question about joining the Military and associated educational benefits?
I am planning on joining the US Navy or Air Force. I am also going to college starting this fall to pursue a degree in physical therapy. Which branches of the military will help pay for my education, and how much will they pay for?
Also, do these branches have a program where I can start my service AFTER I’ve completed my education?
Also, does anyone have any advice for people going into the military and pursuing a healthcare career?
Thanks in advance!
Why not ROTC? If you get accepted for an ROTC scholarship your schooling is free plus they give you money each month. After you graduate, you get commissioned as an Officer. While in the military, you can put $100 each month for a year into the G.I. Bill then when you get out you have $40,000 to help pay for an even higher degree.
