How do military officers find time to advance their education and get doctorates and masters?
Its suggested that you advance your degree in order to get promoted further, how can you do this being full time military?
easy. go to postgrad school as a duty station.. the Masters degree is paid for on the military’s dime and time.
NPS in Monterey is but one option. AF and I thinkthe Armyhas their own Post Grad school as well. n NPS also offers the option of Doctorates as well, but that is VERY Hard to get.. out of the several hundred or so graduating with DH,, 3 were doctoral candidates.

Very simply take courses that are offered in local communities or on base. It’s done every day.

Take classes at night; one at a time. It will take a while, but eventually the degree will come.

I’ve been reading different books on the Army. It seems like many Officers, and Enlisted, serve a certain amount of time in the Army. Then when they want to go back to collage to advance there degrees, they go into a reserve or national guard unit. Then later go back to the regular active army. But some just take classes that are available to them with there scudule.

Many Universities have special programs for the military person, not just officers. I know of one Masters program where a professor comes in to the base every two weeks, on the weekends. You knock off one course in two weekends, meaning Friday night, all day Saturday and all day Sunday. If you add up the class hours, its the same as taking one course on campus for a semester. Tests and term papers are still required. After one course is completed, a different course starts in the next cycle. You can those complete a Masters program in a year or so by putting in two weekends a month a a lot of study time at home.

if you join as an officer you have already been to college or one of the
military colleges like west point. unless your in a war zone. the
military is like any other job. you work your shift and after that your time is your own till your net shift. your on active duty but you have time off.
you don’t work 24 hours a day. so you will have time for other activities
like schooling and doing things to advance your self. it’s like if you
have a job on the outside and do night school or online classes in
your free time.

Online classes! Online classes can be taken anywhere and anytime time…they work around YOUR schedule. Plenty of accredited colleges have online classes and many are expanding their online educational services as we speak. As most of us know, the military has great educational benefits for it’s members. Go to http://www.Armed-ed.com for information on how much $ you can receive and to find the ins and outs of online education.
