What do you think is the affect of the Obama administration on race relations?
Do you think that because America now has a Black president, race relations are bound to improve? Do you think it could divide people even further? Or do you think race relations will only stay the same?
Obama’s presidency brings some things, in terms of race relations, out into the open – reminding us how racist America still really is. Take that big anti-Obama rally they held in DC a few days ago – swimming with Dixie flags – those people have not been created by Obama’s presidency, they’re just squirming and feel so threatened that they have to show their ugly faces to the world! So things look uglier, in a way – but I think this is a sign of (slow) improvement, as things that are out in the open can be addressed and dealt with more easily than those that are hidden or buried. We’ve got a long way to go – but we also have a good, genuine person in office who is trying to do the right thing – and the matter of his racial background did not prevent that from happening!

it seems the opponents of Obama are obsessed with trying to call him a racist, so it’s not really helping

I do not see any improvement. It is getting to the point of everyone who disagrees with his policies are labeled a racist no matter what.
