Can a company representative come to your house and demand you return something?

So, I’m 16, and my mom and I were renting an Alto Sax from Playground Music. My mom had not paid for 3 or 4 months because we were running low on money. A company representative came to our door and basically demanded that we return the instrument. They gave us no notice about this and demanded we return it tomorrow (Saturday). Now, are they allowed to come to our house like that?

  3. a company representative can come to your house and demand the return of your unpaid rented instrument. this representative should identify himself with a company ID and a demand letter signed by a company officer. but whether this representative have a demand letter or not, you are obliged to return the unit since you know that you have not paid rent for 3 or 4 months. to avoid further rental fees and possibly penalty, your mother should personally return the instrument to playground music and ask for an acknowledgement receipt and settle your bill by signing a promissory note. it is important that you get an acknowledgement receipt of the return or else you will be charged for the cost of the instrument itself.
